“The Way Forward” – the new professionalism

Once again, it’s the consumer that is driving the industry disruption. I believe the outcome will be to raise the bar – that agents will work as skilled professionals who can easily demonstrate their value to prospective clients. It will take real effort and when you remember that agents handle the most expensive transaction most people make, it’s about time.

The complete uncoupling of the brokerage fees will result in each client being represented and they will then pay the agent for that representation at close of sale.  This will put the burden of providing value on the individual agent before the client agrees to work with them. When you think about it, we work like this with sellers. We don’t start marketing a listing before we have a signed listing agreement.

How we get there from where we are now is the real disruption.
